Hey everyone,

Posted a new demo on the myspace page for you guys to check out.  Not sure if this will really fit on the new album, but I had fun making it anyway.

In addition, Mike from Clean Equations will be playing a solo set of new material and old favorites with our good friend Dani Mari at Murph’s Bar in Fishtown on February 6th.  Even better, it’s free!

Top 9 of 2009

Friday, December 25th, 2009

Here are Mike’s Top 9 favorite things of 2009…

1.  Stacy’s Naked Pita Chips (I’d live on these things… if I could afford it…)
2.  Eastbound and Down (Danny McBride + baseball = the John Rocker reality show we were all hoping for)
3.  Johnny Brenda’s Tavern (hands down the best venue in Philly… and possibly the greater world)
4.  Early-1980s Casio Keyboards (these guys at the Berlin flea market have no idea what kind of gold mind they are sitting on…)
5.  The xx (one of the few newer bands this year worth the hype…)
6.  Tim & Eric Awesome Show Great Job! (enough said…)
7.  Miller High Life (single-handedly carried us through the 2009 MLB Playoffs… when Cole Hamels couldn’t…)
8.  Universal Audio UA-2-610 Tube Preamp (a classic… and my favorite piece of recording gear)
9.  The Copperphone (a lovely microphone… even if it looks like a pipe bomb)

Album Updates… 12/25/09

Friday, December 25th, 2009

First off Happy Holidays to everyone!  Thanks for all the support you’ve given to the EP over the last few months.

Over the past few days we recorded most of the guitars (first pass at least) for the full length.  Right now we are working on the preliminary mixes and figuring out where the additional elements will fit in (organ, piano, strings, weirdness, loops, field recordings, et al).  We hope to hit the studios for full on mixing in late February.  Maybe we’ll post a preliminary mix or two in the coming days.

Stay warm!

Mike

Recording update… 12/22/09

Tuesday, December 22nd, 2009

Hey everyone,

Sorry for the lack of updates.  We are currently hiding out in the Derivative Room working on the full length album.  All of the drums and most of the bass are done.  Most of the guitars are done as well.  Hopefully working on all the EP/synth/Rhodes/other random Jim Thomas noises this week before the holidays.  Keep checking back!

Just threw a few photos up from the Clean Equations show at Kung Fu Necktie last month.  Better late then never!  It was also good Photoshop practice.

Working hard on the album. Recording same bass later today. In the meantime here are some pics from the Flashy Pythons/ Scott from Dr. Dog show at Johnny Brenda’s I went to earlier in the week. I also captured some audio from the show if anyone is interested.
